Unemployed in South Africa
In South Africa it is said by Business Unity South Africa (BUSA that our economy will keep growing in the next year, regardless of global recession – with careful management.
According to Statistics SA, unemployment declined from 23.5% to 23.1% between the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2008. But that does not make unemployment any less a dilemma in our country and surely these figures look different on the 2009 1st quarter already?
Most of our unemployed are females, and our rural areas experience more joblessness than cities. For these people, a saving grace is UIF Unemployment Benefits.
Claiming unemployment benefits is an easy process.
Have the following documents ready:
13-digit bar-coded ID or passport;
form UI-2.8 for banking details;
form UI-19 to show that you are no longer working for your company; and
proof of a listing as a person looking for employment.
Go to your nearest labour centre and hand in these documents (kindly see above). Staff will assist you and provide more information. For more on-line information, see www.ufiling.co.za
