GET THROUGH THE INTERVIEW - PSYCHOMETRIC TESTING

Psychometric testing is utilised more and more in the pursuit to find the right candidate. In South Africa psychometric testing of job applicants is illegal unless the tests -

  • have been proved valid and reliable;

  • are fair to all applicants; and

  • do not discriminate against a person or group.

The psychometric test should always be administered by a psychometrist or an individual who is licensed to work with that specific psychometric test. The number of tests may range from 1 up to 4 or 5. You cannot prepare for this and the best is to relax and answer everything to the best of your abilities.

You are entitled to feedback by the psychometrist. Use the opportunity to identify any weaknesses or areas for development.
