In September 2005 Statistics South Africa reflected unemployment to be standing on 26.7%. In reality this percentage is probably higher. However, even with our high unemployment rate, there are still critical skills shortages. Now is the time to assess where the needs are and to be the right candidate for the right job.

Being the right candidate is about having the right skills, a good CV, access to employment opportunities, the right peopleskills. However, there are a number of items that you need to work through:

• Know yourself and the market that you are suited to. In this case the market is the industries or sectors that need people with your personality and skills.

• Having this knowledge will assist you in knowing which employers and jobs will form the "best fit" with you.

• Your dream job will be where you, the employer as well as the position will form a good fit.
